Gun control has become a metaphor for the way our Congress doesn’t work these days.  P     From the Associated Press: WASHINGTON (AP) — Senators backing gun control are discussing ways to revise the defeated Senate background check bill to help win the votes they need to resuscitate the measure. So, I waited around for a month, waiting for this Being who was keeping company with me to guide me. When it came into my mind to go to St Luke’s Methodist Church, I got up the next Sunday and went. That was the beginning of nine fruitful years in which I... Read more

I’m going to pull down certain comments. The ones I will do this with are those that I feel I need to supply some sort of answer. I cannot make this new system work so that I can do that properly. This is complicated by the fact that I am totally snowed under on my job right now. I am not deleting your comments — although it will look like that for some of them. I’m just struggling to get... Read more

Pope Francis will consecrate his petrine ministry to Our Lady of Fatima as part of the program of the International Pilgrimage of May 12/13. Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal 96 years ago this month. Your comments aren’t gone. They’re just sleeping. Public Catholic is just now undergoing the surgery I told you about a few weeks ago. Your comments are being transferred to a new system, which means they’ve gone … wherever this stuff goes when computers are doing their high jinks.  Everything will right itself in a few days. Your comments will come back from dreamland and we can go back to cussing and discussing as usual.    Read more
