The film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release over Independence Day weekend 2026, aligning with the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Jon Erwin, the director of hits such as “Jesus Revolution,” “I Can Only Imagine” and the recent series “House of David,” helms the project. William Franklyn-Miller, a rising British actor known for roles in “Medici,” “Arrow” and “Four Kids and It,” stars as the young George Washington, portraying the surveyor-turned-soldier whose early mistakes and battlefield experiences helped ignite the French and Indian War.

The ensemble cast features an array of acclaimed performers. Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley (“Gandhi,” “Schindler’s List”) appears as Robert Dinwiddie. Golden Globe winners Kelsey Grammer (“Frasier,” “Jesus Revolution”) and Mary-Louise Parker (“Weeds,” “Fried Green Tomatoes”) round out key supporting roles, alongside Golden Globe nominee Andy Serkis (known for his motion-capture work in “The Lord of the Rings” and “Planet of the Apes” franchises) and Joel Smallbone of the Grammy-winning duo for KING + COUNTRY, who also starred in faith-based films such as “Unsung Hero.”

Through sweeping visuals and intense storytelling, “Young Washington” delivers an intimate portrait of the man behind the legend during the high-stakes moments that shaped America’s future.

The project marks the first feature collaboration between Angel Studios and Wonder Project. It arrives as Angel continues its momentum with recent releases including the animated musical epic “David: An Animated Musical,” which tells the biblical story of the shepherd who became king and is now streaming on the Angel platform, and the romantic comedy “Solo Mio,” starring Kevin James in a heartfelt tale of second chances.
