Happy Labor Day! Today I’m writing this post from an airplane. Catherine and I are en route to Los Angeles to be on the Bachelor in Paradise After Show. Admittedly I haven’t watched much of the season so let’s all hope I don’t embarrass myself too much when they come to me for commentary.

Anyway, today I want to share with you a post which was inspired by one of my closest friends – Alice Meyers. Alice has been like a sister to me for many, many years (we were even roommates for a while) and now she lives with her husband Jeff in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Alice always posts the most beautiful pictures of her and her husband on Instagram in the most beautiful locations. From all outer appearances, it looks like they lead the perfect little life and have a wonderful, problem-free marriage. On Friday Alice posted a picture of her and Jeff strolling the beach in Maui. This was the caption she attached:

This resonated with me so much. As I read her words, I felt like she was speaking for me. Catherine and I both post a ton of pictures of the two of us showing the world how much we love each other and pictures of us jet-setting to cool locations, but what we don’t post are the times when things aren’t always easy or pretty. But as Alice stated (she’s wise beyond her years), the cool thing is that our pictures show the resilience of our marriage and how we have been able to draw closer to one another as we draw closer to God.
