Men behaving badly (11.26.25)

Men behaving badly (11.26.25)

• “A man pardoned by President Donald Trump for storming the Capitol was arrested on child molestation charges, according to Florida officials, who said he tried to use an anticipated Jan. 6 payout to silence the victim.

“Andrew Paul Johnson, 44, was arrested in Tennessee in August and extradited to Florida on charges of lewd/lascivious molestation, lewd/lascivious exhibition and transmission of material harmful to a minor.”

• “Turning Point leader, former GOP Rep pleads guilty to attempted election fraud

As a part of his guilty plea today, Smith admitted signing the name of a deceased woman on one of his candidate nomination petitions in March of 2024,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said in a statement. “He also admitted that he attempted to deceive the Secretary of State’s Office by knowingly filing petitions containing forged signatures …”

• “Young Girls Were Sexually Abused by a Church Member. They Were Told to Forgive and Forget.”

There are (at least) two horrible, horrifying men in this story. One is Clint Massie, who over many years abused an unknown number of young girls he met at his church — often at the church. Massie is now in prison. The other awful, harmful, predatory man in this story is a pastor at that church Old Apostolic Lutheran Church near Duluth, Minnesota. Daryl Bruckelmyer knew about Massie’s behavior for years and taught his victims that it was their duty to forgive him and move on.

• Michail Chkhikvishvili is a resident of the Republic of Georgia who sometimes visits New York City. That’s where he pleaded guilty to a failed plot to distribute poisoned candy to Jewish children.

Prosecutors described Chkhikvishvili as the leader of the Maniac Murder Cult, an international extremist group that adheres to an ideology that promotes violence intended to trigger a racial and religious war.

They said the group’s violent solicitations — promoted through Telegram channels and outlined a manifesto called the “Hater’s Handbook” — appear to have inspired multiple real-life killings, including a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this year that left a 16-year-old student dead.

Chkhikvishvili’s first idea was to recruit Americans to dress up as Santa Claus and then distribute poisoned candy to Black and Jewish children. He later ditched the Santa Claus angle after someone explained to him about Jews and Santa Claus.

• Charles Exum, a 20-year veteran of Customs and Border Patrol from Maine, shot a 30-year-old schoolteacher five times, then attempted to have her charged with felony crimes as though she was the aggressor. Exum’s many lies in the case involved claiming that he and other agents were “boxed in” by “10 cars” before being “rammed” by the woman’s car — a claim disproved by video evidence, which showed the agents’ car being the one who hit the civilian vehicle: “Text messages and a moved SUV: How the government’s case against a Chicago woman shot by a Border Patrol agent fell apart.”

The “text messages” there refers to a goon-squad group-chat in which Exum bragged about shooting the woman and enthused, repeatedly about how excited he was to get to use his gun to shoot somebody and get away with it. In short, Charles Exum of Maine is a lying sack of shit and a sadist who has no business carrying a gun or a badge or being permitted near women and children or accepted as anything like a decent member of any decent society.

• Olivia Nuzzi has clearly violated every principle of journalistic ethics and really should no longer be working in that profession. But Nuzzi is not a man, so what’s she doing in this list? Well, if you read her story — and I would not encourage you to do that — you’ll notice one constant in that narrative: every man she’s ever dated has behaved very, very badly.

• “Two North Texas men have been indicted for an alleged scheme to sail to a foreign island, murder all the men, and enslave the women and children. The men planned and trained for nearly a year, legal documents say, in an elaborate attempt to fulfill their ‘rape fantasies.'”

They’re also accused of producing child pornography.

• “More than a dozen men have been arrested after trying to solicit a minor for sex in Bloomington, Minnesota.”

… One of the men, he said, is an employee for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who could face federal charges. … “When he was arrested, he said, ‘I’m ICE, boys,'” Hodges said during a press conference Tuesday. “Well, unfortunately for him, we locked him up.”

• “The Deputies Who Tortured a Mississippi County

For nearly two decades, the deputies roamed Rankin County at night, beating, tasing, and choking suspects in drug crimes until they admitted to buying or selling illegal substances. Their reign of terror continued unabated until 2023, when the deputies were finally exposed.

“Rankin County has always been notorious,” says Garry Curro, one the Goon Squad’s many alleged victims. “They don’t follow the laws of the land. They make their own laws.”

This is, in a sense, a “true crime” podcast. But unlike most true-crime podcasts, it’s not about who done it. Instead, like most true crime, it’s more about who’s gonna stop ’em.

• “Defendant Bovino admitted that he lied.”

That’s Greg Bovino, cosplaying head honcho of Customs and Border Patrol, getting ripped by U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis for being a big old liar and violating the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens in Chicago:

“I find the defendant’s evidence simply not credible,” Ellis said. …

Ellis went further, saying the government’s depiction of what is going on in Chicago “is untrue,” and protesters are being “threatened and harmed for exercising their constitutional rights.” The tactics and behavior of the occupying forces “shocks the conscience” and Judge Ellis said she was “ordering complete relief to the plaintiffs.”

Fortunately for Bovino, the judge did not ask him about his height, so he did not also perjure himself by claiming to be 5’9″ while under oath.
