Sonnie Johnson is not happy with this blog I wrote called “Racist speech at BET Awards attacked white people.” Here’s the part she didn’t like:
“You’ve just seen the perfect example of a HOLLYWOOD plantation slave! Sorry, Mr Williams. But the fact that you were standing on that stage at THOSE awards tells people you really don’t know what you’re talking about. Just spewing hate and anger.”
Johnson didn’t like this, saying her own writing on the topic was more even-handed:
“Every single piece of black media picked up that title, that tag, everywhere, to tell black people Republicans do not like you. They think you’re on a plantation. They think that you are a slave,” said Johnson. “This is why we continue to lose, and there is a generation of us that are tired of this. And I swear, I just wish we had Republicans and conservatives on our side, in this issue.”
I didn’t see Johnson’s original piece, but I think we agree on what is needed. But until people from low socio-economic and poor educations understand they are being manipulated and take advantage of, willfully…until they face the fact they are part of the problem – they will never have FREEDOM!!!
The plantation reference is figurative, of course. But it in practicality is not different then in reality. The entitlements act as a modern subsistence driving people to not try to progress either with furthering their education or work opportunities. This is human nature.
Lyndon B. Johnson has famously and accurately described the effects of his “Great Society” of handouts:
I’ll have them niggers voting Democratic for two hundred years.
If you are a black person who just read that and got mad at the word “nigger” instead of at the shackles that the Democrats have put on us, then you are wrong.
Fight back.
