Early yesterday I was naively thinking: let’s pretend a Catholic priest who happened to be white and his mostly white congregation, were carrying a statue of Mary in solemn procession around the Lincoln Memorial, complete with altar severs in surplices and chanting of the Rosary in Latin. Today is Martin Luther King Junior Day. Today is the day that bloggers are supposed to think of something inoffensive to say about Martin Luther King, Junior. I went to the March for Life every year as a teen. We were always told “Remember: you’re representing the Church.” We took a bus up from Columbus. Father France-Kelley, who had lived in Washington, DC, went on the bus with us. He gave us an tour of the area and said Mass in the beautiful Dominican House of Studies instead of taking us to Mass at the Basilica.
