Slow and Steady Wins the Race; or, 12 Thing My Parents Taught Me . . . That Apparently Very Few People Actually Still Believe February 5, 2011

1.  Sidewalks are for pedestrians.  People riding bikes, skateboards, scooters, skates, and other vehicles will yield to pedestrians on the sidewalk.

2.  Children should be seen, and not heard.

3.  If you respect other people, then they will respect you.

4.  When you want to cross the street, go to the crosswalk on the corner.  Stop; look both ways; listen; go across only when it is safe.  People driving cars, trucks, and buses, as well as riding bicycles and other vehicles, will yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.  If you walk across the street in the middle of the block, you will get you hit by a car.

5.  Money cannot buy happiness.

6.  People who have greater opportunity have a greater responsibility to help other people.

7.  Real Christians do not wear clothes emblazoned with the names of beer companies.

8.  One of the main differences between human beings and animals is that human beings clean up after themselves.

9.  The most valuable thing you can gain throughout your entire life is a good education.

10.  It may be warm and sunny all year long in California, but the people out there are not truly happy.

11.  Slow and steady wins the race.

12.  Work hard, follow the rules, do your best, and everything will all work out for you in the end.
