I have a friend who I have never actually met. We live on opposite coasts of the United States, and we can still make each other laugh out loud. We follow each other on twitter, we retweet each other, and we have co-hosted her tweet chat together.
More important is that I think my friend, Lolly Daskal, has helped me deepen and trust the wisdom of my own leadership more than anyone else I know.
I have posted before about Lolly and the LeadFromWithin chat she leads each Tuesday. She is the focal point that attracts and encourages some of the wisest, most compassionate leaders I have met. People from all over the world with so many different backgrounds and perspectives share their insights, lessons, and inspiration each week, and Lolly creates the center that holds the conversation together. Of course, Lolly’s help and inspiration go far beyond the limits of any single hour. The LeadFromWithin community lives and breathes throughout the week. A conversation with Lolly is an amazing experience. Authentic and honest, she shares herself very openly. Tremendously gifted and insightful, Lolly has the ability to express very deep truths accessibly. She always gives me things to reflect on, to think about, and to put into practice and share with others.
Learning to lead from within with Lolly is a lot like learning to fly. It is challenging and sometimes feels impossible; once you begin, there is nothing else that can take its place. You get hooked eventually , but it takes a very good teacher and guide to encourage you and convince you to begin. Soon, we are all flying together.
