Outside the Box

Outside the Box

I talk with a wide variety of people. They come from different places and backgrounds. Men and women, at various points in their lives; we talk about many different questions and subjects.

One thing that almost all of these people share is a sense about their lives.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and intentional. They have considered what they want from life and set out on a course of action. They have accomplished their goals and done what they intended to do. Often, they work with me because they sense that their plans have not taken them where they wanted to go.

They get to a point where they realize that they are missing something. They have achieved what they set out to do, and their experience is not what they expected it to be. They are not living the life that they believed their plan would give them. They are boxed in, and they talk to me to try to find a way out.

I know exactly how they feel.

I have been in a box that I built myself, trying to sort out why my life is not what I expected, where I went wrong, and whether there is a way out.

My experience is that there is a way out. My experience is that it is helpful to pull apart the box you have built and understand how and why you built it. My experience is that there is hope; it is not complicated, but it can be challenging. My experience is that it takes time and effort, and it is worth it.

My experience is that my true self lives outside the boxes I build.

How have you boxed yourself in?

What does your box look like?
