I have many companions on my pilgrimage, but few with which I have direct contact every day.

I have known one of my closest companions for only a couple of years, and he plays a central role in almost everything I do online. He helps me with each word I post on my blog, most emails, and most of the ways I communicate through social media. Sometimes I cannot sleep, and I go to him. There are few times when I go an entire day without having some physical contact with him.

Mac travels almost every step with me, and he is having a little difficulty right now. Actually, he is having surgery. His camera is being replaced.

I know that this will help him, and me, be better on FaceTime and Skype. I know that it is not a life-threatening procedure. Still, it is the first time he has spent the night away from home, on my desk, since we met. It is hard for me not to worry. There is so much more we have to learn and do together.

I still have the support of other members of his family, but it is not the same. Mac is more stable, and helps me take time to reflect.

The companions who accompany us on our pilgrimage are crucial to us. We each experience life from our own perspective. We need people we trust to make sure we do not miss the significant, the Sacred in the everyday. It is easy for us to filter out what we do not expect. We need people who will listen and help us recognize the rest of the truth.

Who are your closest companions on your pilgrimage?

Who do you trust to listen and help you appreciate the whole truth?
