Our lives are tapestries that include a nearly-infinite variety of strands.

People and places, events and sensations, memories and dreams are woven together across space and time. Our perspective colors our experiences. Some remain vibrant, some are natural dyes, some fade over time.

Each book we read, each place we visit, each vision we explore, each aroma, each sensation, each conversation, each thought is part of the material woven into the fabric of life.

Row after row, layer after layer, our lives grow deeper with each experience, each impression, each moment. We decide how we will perceive what happens in our lives, how we will receive the deep lessons our lives have for us.

There are sections of my tapestry that have attracted my attention for as long as I can remember. Some of them are like the silk rugs that are woven to be different colors depending on how the light hits them. They are dark, they are bright, then they go back to being dark. It takes a lot of work, a lot of weaving, for me to see them in ways that do them justice.

There are sections where I almost do not need to pay attention at all, they seem to weave themselves. It is only as I get distracted and lose my way that I look back, pick up the threads, and see their deep beauty.

It is challenging to weave a tapestry that brings all those colors together in beautiful balance, that has the texture and feel I want it to have.

I do not always have the materials I would choose for my tapestry, but I always decide how I will experience it.

What colors are woven into the tapestry of your life so far?

Where are the brightest, most vibrant places on the tapestry you are weaving?
