The game, with all those extremely expensive ads, is over.

After hours and hours and hours of talking, the game did not go quite as expected. After all that effort, planning, preparation, and practice, one team was able to execute more effectively than all the others.

Now what?

Now is when leadership kicks into another gear.

Whether a team has had an amazing season or suffered through misery after misery, now is when leadership begins to make itself evident. Every team, including the champions, depends on leadership to develop, improve, become stronger and better.

What happens now will make the difference between last season and next season.

It is important to remember and reflect on the performance that brought a team here. It is essential to learn the lessons of the past and see the present clearly. Now is the time to take the steps that will create the future.

Your team may not be playing in the SuperBowl. You may not have millions of people watching and analyzing your every move. You may not be playing to make history, or to build a legacy.

Your team still needs your leadership now.

Your leadership is the difference between where you have been and where you are going.

You need to appreciate how your team got where you are now. You need to learn the lessons of your efforts so far. You also need to do what needs to be done to create the future.

There is always another season. Whether you are still with the same team, or traded to another team, now is when your leadership can make a great difference.

Are you ready to kick into another gear?

Are you willing to lead after the game?

What are the lessons you have learned so far?
