There are projects, teams, organizations, and people that draw me to continue working, to do more.

They are not the the most lucrative, nor do they provide the greatest recognition. They are not the easiest, nor the ones that give me the most enjoyment.

They can be difficult, filled with challenges.

The projects and people that keep me working bring me to a point where I find peace in work.

They are places and experiences that show me how I can become more. They teach me deep lessons; that I do not need to be perfect, that there is always more to learn. They are people and companies that open my eyes to greater potential than I ever imagined.

They are people who have told me “I think you might be good at this,” or “You might be interested in that.” They are also people who said they did not think I could do something, it was all beyond my ability.

They are the teams in situations who keep working because they did not know it is impossible to succeed.

People are motivated by many things. I have taken actions based in fear or anger and told myself they were because of justice. Many of us build momentum, getting more and more frantically driven to push forward.

I find the peace of work when I stop to take a breath. With that one breath, I take more breaths. I remember to work from an understanding of potential more than from a sense of impending disaster.

Like a good craftsperson, I find the rhythm for the work at hand.

As we work together, the peace of work draws us in and teaches us its deep truths.

Where do you find the peace of work?

Who inspires you to become more yourself?
