Leaders take initiative to make things better.

Leaders can see what needs to be done, and organize to accomplish it. Leaders have wisdom and insight, as well as the ability to make things happen. It is the balance of those qualities that inspires people to follow them.

Leaders need to know what to do. Knowing themselves well and knowing the people around them give them deeper appreciation for the most effective approaches. No matter what situation they face, the path forward is based on the shared core values that guide their work.

The leaders who inspire us take time to do the challenging inner work that is necessary to be authentic. They take deep breaths, they take walks, they listen and reflect. They work through obstacles to recognize what they really value, who they are in their true selves.

The leaders who inspire me have a clear grasp of my potential, as well as the ability to draw it from me and put it to work. They recognize the values that bring us together and the various strengths that make each of us unique.

They know themselves, which helps them know the people around them as well.
