Cats, Nerd Humor & Food Court Musical

Cats, Nerd Humor & Food Court Musical March 11, 2008

So I haz insomnia. No, it’s not because of the delicious monk coffee; I am out of that and anxiously awaiting my next shipment. And I only had one cup of Dunkin Donuts brew while I was out. I just couldn’t sleep! Spent all night crocheting, flipping channels and looking at cat pictures with captions.

Humorous Pictures

Thankfully, my thoughtful sons provide me with clever nerd humor which keeps me very amused. Here we see devotees of the Nintendo game “Paperboy” doing a bit of early morning street theatre, getting in the way of a real paper deliverer who is a sport about it, and umm…Real-life Tetris.

Meanwhile somewhere in California the folks from Improv Everywhere (you last saw them in the Frozen Grand Central Station event) managed to pull off a Food Court Musical:

For our latest mission, 16 agents staged a spontaneous musical in the food court of a Los Angeles shopping mall. We used wireless microphones to amplify the vocal performances and mix them together with the music through the mall’s PA system. We filmed the mission with hidden cameras, mostly behind two-way mirrors. Apart from our performers, no one in the food court was aware of what was happening.

I have children who participate in these sorts of things, you know. Not those specifically, but…other stuff. One of them – sweetly eccentric – would be very happy to make his living at it. Pray for us.

By the way the Grand Central Station Freeze has taken off and is being recreated all around the world, even in China. A happy subversion!

Dr. Melissa Clouthier has some advise for a better life: have fun in so far as your dogmas, belief systems and private morals will allow!
