Pffff….pffff…
Is this thing on?
I’ve been writing that for about three days now and have not been able to post a thing.
Let me begin by saying, I am sorry. I’ve had all of your emails telling me how unhappy you have been with the transition to First Things, that you find the page unworkable and less intuitive, that my postings were weirdly out-of-place, that I have been utterly silent for several days.
I understand how frustrated you are, and I do truly apologize. Please hang in with us. These big-time redesigns rarely go off without a hitch; I recall when Crisis Magazine went online it took almost a month for them to get the bugs out until they became the very workable and excellent Inside Catholic site.
It’s a time of adjustment for all of us, and yes, I’ve probably been a little bit of a naggy pain to our IT folks…and yesterday I couldn’t remind you to do your novena, or that it was the feast day of Ven. Bede.
But let us move onward! If this African American woman can become a Rabbi in the American South, then we can certainly adapt to a few changes that – I am convinced – will ultimately work for the best.
I mean, come on, now, how can you not want to read Spengler’s “The Terrorist Around the Corner, or Francesco Sisci’s piece on Catholics in China?
Me? I’m the lightweight fun counterpoint to some really great reading that you be missing now that you’ll be visiting me through First Things! And I promise, I’m going to write something just as soon as I go take a shower, how’s that?
Your patience is appreciated. I am assured that the things that made my site more personal will be up in a few days – the Amazon searches, the Rosary Podcasts and such. My links to my friends Pier Giorgio Frassati and John O’ Connor…yes, I’ll hopefully change the quote in the header, soon!
Please bear with me. It’s an adjustment for me too. This is, I think…the third time I’ve tried to post this today! ;-)
Thanks.
