600,000 jobs "saved or created"

600,000 jobs "saved or created" 2017-03-15T18:22:49+00:00

The intellectually incurious press is in full-obedience mode. If the president wants them to report – with straight faces – that Obama is going to snap his fingers and, using the same ideas he proposed before he took office, “create” 600,000 jobs, or save them, or something, well, that’s what they’ll do for him.

Hmmm…now this doesn’t add up: If Obama was making these proposals before he took office, but he’s now claiming (as he does nearly every day) that the Big Bush Mess He Inherited On [Insert-issue-here] Is Much Worse Than He’d Ever Imagined, then why would he be proposing the same dubious “solutions” he was offering before he stepped into the office? As Daffy Duck would say, “there’s sumthin’ amiss, here.”

The whole “save or create” line is beyond a flim-flam; it’s astonishing to me that anyone buys it, but people believe what they want to believe. I suppose at some point Mr. Obama will tell us that he has “saved or improved” millions of lives with his speech in Cairo. And who can argue with him?

I wonder how many jobs President Bush “saved or created” as president. How many lives he “saved or improved.”

Never will I forget, not ever will I forget, that in 2005 -during an election campaign- the press put out the following fully bogus headline on a fully bogus report: “There Go 800,000 Jobs!”

I’m not the only one with a memory, though, and Frank Strategies spells it out pretty cleanly in this video, (H/T Ed Morrissey):

In yesterday’s totally unscientific poll, 48% of you said Obama knows precisely what he is doing with the economy. 40% said “he’s clueless.” I’m voting clueless, as well, because I can’t think anyone would deliberately sit around playing games with rhetoric while we’re looking at either a very long, very deep recession, or a depression.

Of course, I also have this nagging suspicion that perhaps the O-team simply refuses to admit that tax-cuts might help out, here, that cutting back on spending may be part of the answer. That would sound too much like Reaganomics, after all, and hey…when you’re working this hard to be a Messianic figure, you don’t want to end up looking like a shadow of a mere mortal, particularly one your side couldn’t stand.
