A Spiritual Anti-venin for Catholic Battlers

A Spiritual Anti-venin for Catholic Battlers 2015-03-13T00:28:09+00:00

Oh, boy. I’m still trying to put some thoughts together concerning Pope Francis’ profoundly good, profoundly Catholic, profoundly touching interview, released yesterday. But as I do that, here’s something for all of us to chew on, particularly those who are fretting that “this is the end of everything Catholic!” and those who are sneering that weird “nyahnyahnyah…” that I don’t even understand. This is for all who are convinced that the church can’t be righted until “those people” that other faction in the church is defeated and expelled.

Call it spiritual antivenin to keep at the ready as the poisonous arrows fly:

“We must walk united in our differences, there is no other way to become one. This is the way of Jesus.” — Pope Francis

Ingest as needed.

And if you need more, here’s a booster shot via Benedict:

. . .we are obliged to move towards unity, and moving towards unity is already a form of unity.

Because….

“The one and only Gospel waits to be proclaimed by everyone together, in love and reciprocal esteem.”
Pope Benedict XVI, Vatican City, October 2, 2007

If you haven’t yet read read “the interview”, please read it — it doesn’t take long — and read it for yourself, without taking into account what anyone else is saying. Humbly ask the Holy Spirit to inform your reading. It is so much more than anything the talking heads are talking about. Yes it’s radical, you know why? Because it is absolutely, fundamentally Catholic.
