We are now stuck with the Madness of King Trump, and I put the blame entirely on the President’s doctors here. Either they were lying about how serious Mr. Trump’s illness is OR they have overtreated and put every one of us in danger because of their poor decisions.
Did the President’s doctors just put the entire US in danger? Cyberspace is abuzz with the suggestion that Mr. Trump is in the midst of ‘roid mania after his doctors put him on Dexamethasone to treat Covid.
As most know, physicians have discovered that administering this oldie but goodie steroid to a Covid-19 patient on the edge of undergoing a cytokine storm, may save a life. But few patients reach that point, and only the very sick ones even come close. There is no evidence the drug helps less ill patients.
A common side effect of Dexamethasone is euphoria. Another is insomnia. So, the President, who notoriously sleeps very little anyway, which likely causes some of his legendary irritability, is probably not sleeping at all. He has also proclaimed that he “feels better than he has in 20 years,” part of the euphoria that accompanies this drug.
By prescribing it to a man that the physicians themselves claim was not all that sick, we have now an even more unstable man as head of the nation.
For the sake of all of us, Mr. Trump’s physicians should have told him to voluntarily declare himself temporarily disabled and then, once off the drug, rescind that declaration. But of course, under no conditions would Mr. Trump ever consider such a thing anyway because he would never be able to admit he is anything less than perfectly qualified to do the job.
The other option: the Vice-President and the majority of the Cabinet could invoke the 25th Amendment and declare him temporarily unable to fulfill the duties of the President.
Unfortunately, in no known universe will that happen. If they do so, they have sealed his re-election bid to an inevitable loss. Therefore, the VP and all the Cabinet members will suddenly find themselves out of their cushy jobs.
Ain’t no way they care enough about the health and well-being of the nation to do that. They want to save their collective backsides.

As I have said many times before, it is the Evangelical world, drunk with the idea of massive political power to reshape the US according to their idea of a “biblical” nation, that landed us here.
They found in Mr. Trump a willing participant in their schemes, and they both made a deal with the devil here.
There has never, ever, been a time in history when the marriage of religion and politics has had a good ending for a nation. We shall simply go down in the next generation of history books as yet one more nation that stupidly bought into the idea and sealed our decline and eventual ruin.
