Raising Kids with Learning Disabilities: Podcast with Sr. Josephine

Raising Kids with Learning Disabilities: Podcast with Sr. Josephine October 19, 2021

In Spring 2021, I recorded an interview with Sr. Josephine Garrett, CSFN, primarily for the families at the school where she ministers on helping kids with learning differences at home and at school. Now a few months later, she has turned this into a podcast. I figure some of you might be interested so I’m sharing it here.

I hope this helps parents with autistic children or other neurodivergent children. It should also help teachers and staff at Catholic schools. I was trying to speak to those two audiences together.

I think the specific aspects for teachers at Catholic schools are probably more elaborated here than in other talks or interviews I’ve done. Catholic schools have sometimes struggled to integrate disabled students but our mission of charity should make us leaders in this respect. I don’t have all the answers but I hope I can help start a discussion to move us in that direction. A lot more work needs to be done in this regard. We can’t do everything tomorrow, but we can move forward each day.

If you don’t like the embedded player, here’s a link to the podcast.
