Trailer: Abraham Lincoln is first and foremost a ‘Vampire Hunter’

This trailer looks fantastic and makes me want to see the movie even more.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter tells the secret saga of our beloved president and his real mission: fighting the vampires that preyed on helpless humanity and sought to destroy our union.

The voice over says: “History prefers legends to men. Soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle and forgets the blood.” Whatever else he is, Lincoln says, he will always think of himself as a hunter. Against the backdrop of his legendary Gettysburg Address, we see images of his true, secret battle.

From director Tim Burton, this film looks spooky, but not the quirky, pale faced Gothic look of Dark Shadows or Alice in Wonderland.

Like the Dark Knight Rises (trailer here), it appears to derive from and explore our very nature and history as Americans. Perhaps we could use more of that. The film opens June 22.
