Exercise: Kitchen Grudge-match

You may not be able to control the wild chaos of society, so start with something within your own domain of control and manhandle it into serving you exactly how you think it should be. Do the dishes, put them all back where they belong, and scrub the kitchen like its a grudge-match. This exercise is a magickal spell utilizing “fixed” energies. State your intentions out-loud ’til the funk in-residence trembles in fear of of your rubber gloves.

Create a magickal cleaning spray! In your average-sized cleaning spray bottle, blend 1/2 c. of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of a natural liquid soap like castille, and a few drops each of the “Four Thieves:” cinnamon, rosemary, clove and orange essential oil, and fill it to the top with solar-charged waters. They have fire associations so you can envision that you are killing your problems (and unwanted microbial invaders) with fire, if that helps.

The kitchen represents whatever political crap that is driving you crazy, or the red-tape of life that is in your way, the scummy things that threaten your bliss–attack that mess with your magickal disinfectant and force it into order, all the way down to the floors. I banish thee, I banish thee, I banish thee!  Polish the damned sink. Feels good, yeah?

Don’t stop! “Fixed” energies are what maintain a state of existence and are just as important as starting (cardinal) and finishing (mutable). Keep it this way as a promise to your higher self. The energies you invest here are symbolic of your commitment to effective maintenance on all levels….it will mirror throughout your many selves.

Exercise: Pamper the God/dess

Primp and preen yourself, because you an incarnate God/dess–that body is a gift that you have the honor to inhabit. Show appreciation by taking good care of this wondrous part of yourself.  Pull out all the witchy stops and create a natural skin emollient like a blend of equal parts warmed African Shea butter and jojoba oil, plus a few drops each of lavender and frankincense essential oil. You can add a hematite, rose quartz and/or moonstone to boost its charge. Empower the body oil for protection, relaxation and sweet dreams. Let it sit in the moonlight during a full moon, for a lunar charge.

Then, during an evening as the moon wanes, bathe yourself, scrubbing everywhere until your skin glows. Then from head to toe, treat your most precious organ and boundary, your skin, with a massage of this magickal, emollient seal.  Do so while chanting a boundary protection charm the same way you might charge your magickal circle. “Naught but love will enter in, Naught but Love will emerge.” Now, put on clean jammies, crawl into some clean sheets, meditate for a while, and give yourself the gift of a good night’s sleep.

Consider a new hair-cut, trim your nails or go all-out for a mani/pedi?  A fresh shave or beard trimming? Wear something special. Dress up! Do it even if there isn’t a good reason. Better yet, make a good reason. Self-esteem can only be improved with the effort to be the best outward version of ourselves that we can muster, even if that takes baby steps…like, today I put on pants. Fake it ’til you make it; lip gloss and earrings make most things better. A dab of your favorite fragrance is a good start, such as a Frankincense oil blend. It smells alluring on everyone, and it has proven aromatherapy benefits as an anti-depressant.

Visit a Physician

When in doubt, go see your doctor for a physical. Run some labs to rule out the simple things. Vitamin deficiencies and endocrine imbalances have caused me mood issues and fatigue in the past, and were discovered with basic medical diagnostics. You wouldn’t believe the difference a deficiency in Vitamin D can make, for example. More importantly, they’ll either identify or rule out major maladies. Both are necessary to conquering our fears with knowledge.

I’ll update links as they are posted, stay tuned for a look at the lessons of Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.
