Sipping on my tea

Glancing over

I spot a couple

Engaged

Serious

Then the woman drops her head

Searching for a tissue

Busy diner

Plates rattle in the back

Noise around

I watch the couple

The woman wipes her tears

Man takes breath

Looks shell shocked

Awkward

Jukebox plays

As if on cue

“I can’t make you love me if you don’t”

Synchronicity

Even now

Plates rattle around

She gets up and heads to the bathroom

He sits

Alone
