Day 56 of 90 straight days of hot yoga at Moksha Yoga LA and yes it is quite warm here in LA-LA-Land. Today’s practice was with teacher Joe and it was a class of flow, hey that came out like poetry. Over the past couple of days I have been doing a self practice off my mat of seeing the thoughts as they are, by becoming aware of them, then noticing my body. If the thoughts are negative or lower type energy thoughts, my body will fold forward, and collapse in, when this happens, in order to break the cycle inward, I do mountain pose. First I gently pull my shoulders back and down, which allows my heart to lift and chin to drop, I soften my heart and shoulders with my breath, and I am back in the clear.
So after doing this self-practice for a couple of days, I recognized that something was noticing the thoughts. Otherwise how would I know I have thoughts, unless they were being witnessed. So in recognizing this, “I” was witnessing the thoughts. So these thoughts can’t be mine, unless I let them pull me in and then I become them. So simply by witnessing the thoughts, it gives more space inside and out.
Teacher Joe invited us to listen to our bodies. Today that became a little easier, because I could listen to the body, and then witness the thoughts wanting to make judgements on the sensations. This allowed the practice to meet the pose right where the body was. Without getting caught up in what the mind was “thinking” about it. Day 56 offered me the opportunity to sit in the pose and work where I am. Without resistance which leads to suffering. As I move to unconditional acceptance of now.
On to day 57…Namaste
