Are you dissatisfied with the book-length voting guides put out by the USSCB? Do you find it lacks both brevity and clarity?  Are you skeptical of the guides put out by Catholic shills of the Left and of the Right as well? Are you tired of the same old stale arguments in the blog-o-sphere between the folks who can seemingly find no candidates worthy of their vote, doing battle with those who attempt to turn their pet candidates into demi-gods?... Read more

I was just checking the archives and realized it’s been a long time since I shared a music post. Ever since the HHS Mandate naked power grab reared it’s ugly head, my muse has been under a cloaking device. But today, I’m going to break out and share a few tunes that I haven’t heard for a long, long time. I’m curious how many of you remember them too, so sound-off in the combox. They’re all from the Big Eighties,... Read more

Wait a second, isn’t that what is on the label of a bottle of Jägermeister  liquer? What does that remotely have to do with being Catholic, you say? Can you see the resemblance?   Maybe it’s just me.   Read more

What with the post on Singapore yesterday, Southeast Asia is on my mind these days. The photograph above is another reason why. Reuters has more, Philippines rushes aid as more rains pound Manila Updated 09:39 AM Aug 09, 2012 MANILA – Heavy rains pounded the Philippines capital on Wednesday, prompting a new danger alert as emergency workers rushed food, water and clothes to almost one million people through streets turned into rivers after 11 straight days of monsoon downpour. Truth is stranger than fiction. And weird things happen when governments decide to help you decide how many children you can have. Take Singapore, for instance. The island nation, after gaining its independence from Malaysia in 1965 had a total fertility rate (children born per woman) north of 4.7 (down from 5.41 in 1960). As demographers know, a nation needs a TFR of 2.1 to maintain itself for the long run. The Singapore government was spooked by this high TFR... Read more
