Be transformed on World Down Syndrome Day – here’s how March 20, 2016

Today is World Down Syndrome Day (March 21st, when we celebrate those who have an extra 21st chromosome). Micha Boyett shared this quote, which I thought was worth passing along:

“Every child, every person needs to know that they are a source of joy; every child, every person, needs to be celebrated. Only when all of our weaknesses are accepted as part of our humanity can our negative, broken self-images be transformed.”

-Jean Vanier, Becoming Human

Got that?  Transformed!  What a wonderful word.  That’s not only true for people with Down syndrome, but also it hits home for all of us.  Romans 12:2 says:

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Trig Paxson Van Palin, thank you for all you do to help us see the beauty of life!
