CBF Podcast: Zack Hunt and American Jesus Madness

CBF Podcast: Zack Hunt and American Jesus Madness November 17, 2017

By Andy Hale

Zack Hunt has written for Huffington Post, Christianity Today, World Vision, Red Letter Christians, Relevant Magazine, Ministry Matters, and CWR Magazine.

He writes theological on matters that might cause many ministers to come under scrutiny. One glance at some of his recent topics, including a focus on the theological hypocrisy of Evangelical Christian voting trends, and it is not hard to see what I am talking about.

Certainly, this has led many people to critique writers like Zack. The criticism is that because he is not paid clergy, he has no accountability to the local church, and can say whatever he wants.

For Zack, this could not be any further from the truth. “Yeah, it would be easy to say, ‘Well, God told me this. I’m right and you can’t tell me any different,” confessed Hunt. “But that’s certainly not Christianity. That’s not healthy. That’s not me. So, for me accountability is tremendously important,” he added.

In our conversation, we delve deep into the challenge facing many ministers to speak prophetically about things happening around the United States and the ease of keeping the words from the pulpit at a mediocre level. Additionally, there might be some strong opinions shared about Nashville BBQ.
