Jesus, Loaves, & Fishes: A Devotional for Young Mothers [Video]

Jesus, Loaves, & Fishes: A Devotional for Young Mothers [Video] April 16, 2013

Intermission. Peace. Solace….

That’s what I found one day when consumed in kinder-care of my two little ones, several decades ago now, as a young mother.

I’d like to share what I gleaned from the New Testament account of the Savior feeding the multitudes that overlaid itself on my day and life as a mother when I needed to feel His awareness and presence. I hope that you, as mothers of young children, will feel the same encouragement as you listen in and watch this episode of I Believe: Expressions of Faith Video cast: Jesus, Loaves & Fishes. Find the full I Believe Podcast transcript here.

I’d love to hear from you, wherever you are on your own spiritual journey. You can email me at Karen@ibelievepodcast dot com or visit our social profiles listed below.

Bible Verse: “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone” (New Testament: Matthew 14: 23).

Faith Quote: Most of you [here] are mothers, and very many of you are grandmothers and even great-grandmothers. You have walked the sometimes painful, sometimes joyous path of parenthood. You have walked hand in hand with God in the great process of bringing children into the world that they might experience this estate along the road of immortality and eternal life. It has not been easy rearing a family. Most of you have had to sacrifice and skimp and labor night and day. As I think of you and your circumstances, I think of the words of Anne Campbell, who wrote as she looked upon her children:

You are the trip I did not take;
You are the pearls I cannot buy;
You are my blue Italian lake;
You are my piece of foreign sky.
“To My Child,” in Charles L. Wallis, ed., The Treasure Chest, 1965, 54.

You [mothers] are the real builders of the nation wherever you live, for you have created homes of strength and peace and security. These become the very sinew of any nation” (G. Hinckley).
