DO YOU BELIEVE? (Now Showing in Theaters Everywhere) March 21, 2015

DYB_FinalPoster“Do You Believe?” is a question we must all answer in our lifetimes.  Now, “Do You Believe?” is the latest faith-based drama from Pure Flix Entertainment, creators of last year’s Christian drama “God’s Not Dead”.

“Do You Believe?” tells the story of different souls–all moving in different directions, all longing for something more.  The troubled war veteran, the pregnant teen, the urban kid struggling to stay away from the gang, the childless couple, the emergency medical technician, the hardened attorney, the man facing a terminal illness…. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each discover that there’s power in the Cross of Christ.

The all-star cast includes such familiar faces as Academy Award-winner Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Cybill Shepherd and Lee Majors.

Last night, the film opened in theaters across America; but it was my privilege to see a preview a few weeks ago.  The film is well shot, and stands well among faith-based films as good, family-friendly entertainment.  I found the storyline, which brought the dozen or so divergent characters together in an unlikely incident on a bridge, somewhat unrealistic; but I enjoyed it nonetheless.  My companion more than enjoyed it–she cried through much of the movie, deeply touched by the pain in people’s lives and by the loving touch of God, which restores all things.

“Do You Believe” would be a great Lenten experience for your family, an emotional meditation on the power of the Cross, up there on the big screen.  I’m happy to recommend it.
