Pope Francis Will Sign a Treaty with the Palestinian State

Pope Francis Will Sign a Treaty with the Palestinian State May 14, 2015

YES! Pope Francis, on behalf of the Vatican, is going to sign a treaty with the Palestinian State, that is, the Palestinian Authority, thus verifying the existence of a Palestinina state and further endorsing it.

Wake up United States of America, which is against this! Smell the roses. My country’s government has always been on the wrong side of history regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. What do I mean?

Although the U.S. has always been Israel’s chief ally, which I fully endorse and therefore am an advocate of the existence of the State of Israel, the U.S. has never been equally fair with the Palestinians. We have favored Israel at the expense of the Palestinians. And I am sorry to say that U.S. Christian Evangelicalism, of which I have counted myself a member throughout my adulthood, has contributed to this disparity.

On the othe hand, the Roman Catholic Church has always had the right attitude, and thus the right position, regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. And I said this twenty-five years ago in my book, Palestine Is Coming: The Revival of Ancient Philistia (1990), which is more relevant today than ever.

The Bible says that even though God made a covenant with only one nation on earth–little Israel–and that covenant still exists today even though it seems a bit dormant, God is no respector of persons. He expects human beings and their nations to respect all peoples unless there is gross ill-behavior involved. And I don’t think Israeli Jews behave any more righteously than Palestinians do, even considering the terrorism to which some Palestinians have resorted to toward Israel. In fact, there is a much higher percentage of Palestinian people who are professing Christians than there are among Israeli Jews.

However, I believe that if the two-state solution ever happens–which I think it should and that the Bible indicates that it will–it will never work with the traditional scheme of the Palestinian state being located in the Gaza Strip, Swiss-cheese West Bank, a corridor between the two, and East Jerusalem. This scheme is only due to modern settlement demographics. The Palestinians, and the world, need to find another solution. See mine in my book, which is based on my interpretations of ten Old Testament passages. I sometimes post about here at this blog. See my updates of this book at my website kermitzarley.com.
