Can you send a prayer for me today, folks? I’m a bit out of sorts and kind of a mess. Much of it has to do with family stuff — first and foremost, I am a wife and a mom. And much of what drives my life will never appear on the pages of any blog. When things are slow here, you can mentally picture me catching up on worldly things like laundry, cleaning teenage toilets, or procuring food. Blogging... Read more

I’m a big fan of parishes using technology to share the Good News of the gospel, so I was thrilled my Facebook friend Daniel Houze, shared the following Ustream video with me from this week’s National Associate of Broadcaster’s show in Las Vegas. As a Catholic geek, I daydream about some day attending this event! In the video, you’ll hear my friend Father David Guffey of Family Theater Productions and St. Monica’s parish in Santa Monica, and Daniel Houze —... Read more

My technology segment on today’s episode of the Sonrise Morning Show dealt with this week’s elaborate hoax targeting Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Texas. If you’re unaware of the details of the elaborate ruse, here’s a rundown. In short, a fake website was launched and tricked many into thinking that Joel Osteen had denounced his faith in Christianity. The website was quickly proven to be false — there should have been a clue when you looked at the misspelling... Read more

Today I continue sharing my reflections on the recent Mid-Atlantic Congress in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Find all of my #MACongress posts online here. Session number four on Friday, March 8th at the Mid-Atlantic Congress found me splitting my time between two awesome speakers. Before my blog break, I shared with you about attending Brandon Vogt’s talk. The second portion of that session found me sitting in the back of the room to listen to Jeff Cavins on the timely topic, “I’m Not Being... Read more

Hey friends, I hope you’ll permit me a moment of non-Catholic, issue oriented blogging today. My home town, the city of Fresno, California, is all in an uproar over a digital slip-up that has resulted in front page news and the dismissal of a high-ranking board member within a local non-profit organization. I’ll leave you to read the full details of the story here, but suffice it to say that this particular board member sent an email filled with not... Read more

I’m sorry for the radio silence for the last several days folks. I’d intended to take the Triduum off and then resume blogging, but travel to the land of “no free wifi connection” conspired against me. After fretting for a day or two, I settled into the idea of a relatively unplugged week. Today, I find myself sort of being dragged back to my keyboard. It’s not that I didn’t miss blogging — a blogger tends to see the world... Read more

You’ve been hearing about it today — the fact that Pope Francis would conduct Holy Thursday Mass at the juvenile penitentiary of Casal del Marmo, a facility for incarcerated youth. Here is video footage of the moment. I for simply can’t watch this without becoming emotional. While you watch this, consider these words spoken on Vatican Radio by Benedictine Abbott, Timothy Wright, spiritual director at the Pontifical Beda College in Rome: Washing feet is a very menial task. A sign... Read more

If you were paying attention today, you heard your Holy Father inviting you to fall in love not only with Holy Week, but more deeply with the world around you. This Rome Reports video captures a bit of the excitement felt at today’s first Wednesday Audience with Pope Francis: It seems like our new Papa likes to improvise, so it was very nice to find a full, translated version of his teaching from today, a primer on a well-lived... Read more

Today I continue sharing my reflections on the recent Mid-Atlantic Congress in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Find all of my #MACongress posts online here. The afternoon of Friday, March 8th found me splitting my time between two sessions by two of my favorite speakers — both of whom I’m blessed to called “friend”. Tomorrow, I will share about Jeff Cavins’ session, but for now I want to share about New Media, New Evangelization – Spreading the Faith in a Digital Age by Brandon Vogt. Here’s... Read more
