A Word on the New Site Setup

As you can see, the new site is up and running. As you will note, I have tabs set up. I am working on the content for them, but so far each of them just have short blurbs (and a few simply say “coming soon”). My plan is for each tab to have a basic summary, a list of key posts, and a list of further resources, whether websites, books, or articles. I will let you know each time I complete one of these tabs.

I’m hoping that my tabs will serve several functions. My goal for the tabs on the Christian Patriarchy and Quiverfull movements, the Christian Right, and the purity culture, for instance, is to educate those who don’t know much about these movements, encourage those whose journey has been similar to my own, and challenge those who still adhere to these movements. My goal for my atheism, feminism, social justice, and parenting tabs is similar. And of course, these tabs all help narrate my own personal journey.

I still need to do some work on my categories, but I thought I’d ask if any of my readers have requests for my widgets in the sidebar. Is there something that’s not there that you’d like to see? I want to do my best to make the reading experience as painless and pleasant as possible.

About Libby Anne

Libby Anne grew up in a large evangelical homeschool family highly involved in the Christian Right. College turned her world upside down, and she is today an atheist, a feminist, and a progressive. She blogs about leaving religion, her experience with the Christian Patriarchy and Quiverfull movements, the detrimental effects of the "purity culture," the contradictions of conservative politics, and the importance of feminism.

I notice that the RSS feed is working, but each article in the feed only contains an intro paragraph instead of the whole article. I don’t know if that’s a setting you can change? I know that I get whole articles directly into my RSS reader from Friendly Atheist, which is also on Patheos…

Fixed, thanks for bringing that to my attention!

A link to your twitter/facebook/ … on the side or on the about for people who want to follow you mayhaps?

Mostly commenting to pass any filters that may be in place.. I found you on Free Thought Blogs, and will definitely be reading you here as well. Thanks for continuing to post!

Your old blog at FtB seems a little too aggressive at forwarding to Patheos: I cannot even read your “Blog move completed” post because that one too tries to forward me here, where no equivalent post exists.

Is there a preview for comments?

    • http://patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfeminism Libby Anne

I only put up the “Blog Move Completed” post for the hour or so gap between when we got everything set up at Patheos and when the redirect was set up at FreeThought Blogs. It only contained the Patheos url, so you didn’t miss anything.

I’m not sure what you mean about a “preview” for comments.

There was a preview button at FreeThoughtBlogs which allowed you to see and proofread the content of the message before actually submitting it. Probably the most useful aspect of it was being able to double check that any HTML elements were being rendered correctly. Checking for spelling and grammar errors can be done in a text editor.

Looking good to me! You’re one of my faves so far on FtB, so I’ll definitely follow you here. I love the tabs idea — there are particular topics I know you’ve written a bunch on, but I haven’t had the chance to read since “discovering” you — and I may just appropriate it on my own blog. I second the Twitter/FB/ways-to-follow-you sidebar or links.

Done! And glad to have you follow me here. :-)

Cool! Just followed you on Twitter too. :-)

I found you on NLQ, followed you to FTB, and now I’m following you here. I saw you’re currently expecting your first–congratulations! I’d love to see a tab about parenting. I’m a new mother, and it’s really causing me to reevaluate my own experiences so I can try not to repeat my parents’ mistakes. Since we have a similar background, I’m really interested in hearing more of your thoughts on this.

Second, actually. My first is in preschool now. I have a parenting tab in the works – you’ll see it above though without a lot of data yet. That’ll be coming. In the mean time, you might look at the few posts I’ve done on this topic so far, such as those in my positive parenting category. I reposted a few of them later, so a couple show up twice.

Thank you! I’ll check it out.

I think you should have a blogroll! Link to the blogs that you cite or read often and/or that are relevant to your content. It would really help someone new to the free thought blogosphere like me to navigate the place!

  • Tsu Dho Nimh

Your redirect from FTB takes me to a non-existent page here. I think if you made it this:

    Instead of this:

    The problem would go away.

      Fixed. Thanks!

Seamless move so far Libby Anne, in fact you are technically still on my FtB google homepage tab…;)

  • Muzakbox

I also followed you from FtB. I really enjoyed your blogging there and look forward to see more from you here.

  • shargash

I don’t see the links to the other FTB blogs any more. I do like to bounce around among several of you, and I use those links to do it.

Nice to see you’re settling in at your new home
