I just got the following from Gary Hoge (who some of you may remember as active in Catholic apologetics circles some years ago):
I don’t know if you remember me from several years back. You stayed at our house in Reston, Virginia, once. We live in Fredericksburg now.
Anyway, on Monday, Jan. 6, our house was heavily damaged by a fire. My wife, Angie, was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. Yesterday, Jan. 11, she passed away.
My son Christopher and I are living in a hotel for now, because it will take months to repair the house.
Please pray for the repose of Angie’s soul, and for God’s grace to get our family through this awful time. Also, please pray that God will provide a way to cover the thousands of dollars the funeral will cost. Being a relatively young couple we had no insurance for such a thing.
Please help out a brother in Christ at a desperate moment in his life.
Father, hear our prayer for the repose of Angie’s soul, for Gary and Christopher, and for all who love them. Help them find the financial resources to weather this storm and help them rebuild their lives. Help your people step up and help them get through this. Give them the graces necessary to find healing, strength, grace, peace, faith, hope, and love through your Son Jesus Christ to the glory of your Name. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for them.
