Movie Night on the Titanic

Movie Night on the Titanic June 18, 2015

Rachel Dolezal in talks for Reality TV show Only in the delusional cultural wasteland of Millennial America does being photographed with a hand held camera as you go through life lying to yourself and everybody around you equal “reality”.

Perhaps they can title it “The Amazing Race”. Or just “The Minstrel Show”.

What appalls me is not so much Dolezal herself (who I take to be mentally ill) but the ruthlessness with which the media machine is willing to tempt an obviously mentally ill person away from the help she so obviously needs and put her in the center of a maelstrom in which all her worst appetites and addictions will be fed with all the worst drugs of fame, attention, and the insulating power of adulation and money. This is somebody who badly needs to confront her demons. A show like this is a sure fire way to make her demons define her and brand her for the rest of her life. And every person who tunes in will be accomplice to her psychological destruction.

Maybe next the producers can take us on tours of insane asylums to with a laugh track so we can make fun of the residents.

The longer I live, the more I see why Jesus had to undergo *that* extremity of sacrifice to save a race as depraved as ours.
