Giving Thanks?

Giving Thanks? November 22, 2012

I believe in the power of gratefulness. There are still times when I do not feel very grateful.

I believe that the world around us is filled with possibility, filled with opportunity. There are still times when life is difficult, when I feel discouraged, when I am tired of trying.

I believe that the Sacred surrounds us and pours love into our hearts every day. There are still times when I get frustrated, when things take too long for me, when I feel afraid.

I believe that each of us is becoming the person we are meant to be, that we are each learning and growing into our potential. There are still times when I feel foolish, when I wonder why I am the way I am.

I believe that I am doing what is best for me, that my relationship to my true self is growing deeper and more intimate. There are still times when I wonder how things can possibly work, if I will ever know what to do, whether there will ever be less pain and disappointment.

I believe in the core significance of authentic leadership, pilgrimage, and revelry. There are still mornings when I feel like staying in bed.

I believe that we learn by trying and making mistakes, that practice is how we gain the strength and abilities to continue, that we do not fail until we stop trying. There are still times when I doubt that I will ever succeed, when I feel like a failure, when I think about quitting.

Gratefulness is a practice. Gratefulness is a challenge. I do not practice expecting that I will always do it right; I practice so I can get closer.

How are you doing today?

How are you deciding to carry on?
