10 Things That Tell You There’s An Architect In The House

10 Things That Tell You There’s An Architect In The House August 26, 2014

A long-time friend (and classically-trained architect) spent a few days with us this past week, adding his trio of boys to the Already-Intimidating Susanka Pack. With the exception of the now-infamous Stomach Bug Incident, a good time was had by all, and I was sorry to see him go.

In other (and doubtless unrelated) news, this impressive building miraculously appeared in Séan (Second Son’s) Minecraft world last week:

DomTemple

Not to be outdone,  the fantasy-lovin’, book-wormin’ Séan threw up a quick structure of his own across the way:

Perfect. A classic Grecian temple on one side; Barad-dûr on the other. There’s a life-lesson to be teased out of that, I’m sure… But I’m too slow (or scared) to do so. Somehow, though, it captures life in the Susanka household just about perfectly. Tradition and beauty on one side; Doom on the other. And in the middle, a vast, unmarked land that needs some careful cultivating.

(Oh, and I lied about the “10 Things.” I was just trying my hand at that UpWorthy Headline thing that’s so ubiquitously ubiquitous on the InterWebs nowadays. And yes, now I’m ashamed.)Attribution(s): iPad screenshots were taken by me, but the digital architecture is provided by the fertile minds of my friend and my son.
