Ahead of the looming November 8 election date, Altmuslim produced a four-part election series analyzing the impact of the Muslim vote, important state and local elections to keep an eye on and other election stories. In this first article of the series by Mohammad Khan, he argued that American Muslims not only must vote, but must work on a number of strategies to build political power: “An “outside” strategy is crucial as well. Organizing and applying pressure by creating digital and social media campaigns, holding rallies and press conferences and creating crises for those in power through direct action and civil disobedience—all of these tactics can and should be used as parts of a strategy for building long-term political power.”
