February: Black History Month

President Obama made a speech on Guantanamo Bay (which he still never shut down, though he promised to eight years ago), and Muslims remembered and mourned the one-year “anniversary” of the death of #OurThreeWinners. But in addition to these stories, a partnership between Altmuslim and Muslim ARC- The Muslim Anti-Race Collaborative brought forth a spectacular series exploring stories of Black Muslims for Black History Month. One of our favorites was this article by Hakeem Muhammad, in which he simply argued that to know Black History, one must know Islamic History.
