June: Muhammad Ali’s Death Unites Muslims

The month of Ramadan ushered in a much-needed respite from election worries and other things. At Altmuslim, we began our third annual “30 Days, 30 Writers” Ramadan series. But soon enough the American and global Muslim communities’ attention was united in sorrow and commemoration of Muhammad Ali, who passed away during the first week of the Holy Month. A number of the Ramadan contributors wrote about the GOAT’s passing, including this article by former Altmuslim columnist Zeba Khan, where she asked for Muslim communities to build off the inclusiveness of Ali’s funeral to greater understanding and unity.
