Sorry for the silencio this week. My parents came for a visit, which was awesome, and then Charlotte and the Ogre came down with the flu, which was not awesome. So let’s focus on the former, yeah?

We had ice cream at the Bean, dinner at the Pub, went to the beach, hung out with bikers, and Liam got a haircut. Here’s a brief glimpse, in photo form, of our weekend:

Straciatella….yum

My mom and Liam
It was my first time ever to bury a child in the sand

Charlotte was mildly afraid of the water but had tons of fun in the sand
Liam was terrified of the water and took refuge in mine and my mother’s laps for the whole three hours, except for the time when I dragged him into the water anyway and laughed when he freaked. I’m so mean.
This is the beach which is an hour drive from our house. Unbelievable, no?
Here’s Liam, post-haircut the next day

The Queen Mary Pub hosted a Bikers and Blues Festival (I don’t know if that’s what it was actually called but that’s what it was, so that’s what I’m calling it) on Saturday. It was so awesome. The music was great, shiny motorcycles were plentiful, and studded leather abounded. After about half an hour of wandering through the fierce-looking crowd, Sienna declared her new goal in life is to grow up and become a biker ballerina.

That’s when I knew that 1) I must be doing something right and 2) my kid is awesome.

But alas, today I have temperatures to take and medicine to administer, and the poor Ogre dragged himself to work in spite of his fever because he didn’t want to abandon his students during midterms so I’ll have to periodically call him and make sure he’s still, you know, alive. Have a happy Monday, everyone!
