Parenting Francophilia

Parenting Francophilia February 6, 2012

Several people on facebook linked to this article yesterday, and then Sally blogged about it, and I read it and have found my world shifting utterly beneath my feet.

I’m thinking of doing a series of posts on it, actually. It’s all stuff that’s been brewing in my head for a while but the article finally brought everything into focus in a way that made sense. It’s even causing me to partially dismiss my well-publicized hatred of almost all things French. I’ll never be reconciled with their dreadful cinema, but perhaps I’ll become a francophile in my parenting philosophy.

So go read the article, and then tell me, would you be interested in reading posts about parenting philosophies and how mine has changed from a “spare the rod, spoil the child” mentality into a “screw discipline, let’s educate them!” mindset? I mean, it hasn’t entirely, but I’m getting there. With caveats. And shameless fascination with the idea of the “cadre”.
