Ahhhh, the sweet wonder of Saturday. We will be out in the pool for approximately 1.5 hours today, since that’s how long it takes before the water starts boiling and flays us alive in this ungodly heat. But those 1.5 hours sure are sweet. And then tonight we’re going to my lovely cousin’s birthday party, who is pregnant with her first child. I haven’t seen her since the news was released and I am so stoked! She was my fave... Read more

#7 It’s Friday, and guess what? The Ogre is coming to visit us this week! #6 Liam will be a year old on Thursday, and the Ogre is coming in so we can celebrate the little man’s birthday right!  I’m pretty pumped. I can’t believe how much I miss my husband. Being without him is like being without one of my lungs; I just can’t breathe right unless he’s around.  #5 Not That I’m Dramatic About It or anything.  #4... Read more

and I got barely any sleep last night, and my head is pounding, and there’s no way I’m going to put together an actual post today, I’m giving you this instead. My Current Song Obsession: It seems that all my bridges have been burned But you say, “that’s exactly how this grace thing works.” It’s not the long walk home that will change this heart but the welcome I receive at every start.  You’re welcome. Happy Wednesday! Read more

So, last week I promised to write a post about my philosophy on blogging and a compilation post on responses I got to my post on men. Awesomely, that second one is totally not going to happen. At least not this week. I’ve got some searing-hot irons in the fire, so to speak, which need my attention. I really hope to get a post up with some very excellent corrections to my thinking on men at some point in August,... Read more

I meant to put this up directly after my post on the Exorcism of Demons, but what followed was, it seemed to me, more necessary. One of the most wonderful things about being an adult convert to the Catholic Church is that we have the freedom to choose our own Godparents. When my priest asked me who I would like to stand beside me and take my baptismal vows along with me, there wasn’t much question about who I would choose.... Read more

I know it’s Friday, but I hope you’ll forgive me for not being in the mood for quick take-ery. There is something weighing on me. I got a comment last night that really rattled me. I was at my in-law’s house for dinner when my email chime sounded on my phone and I read this comment on my last post. “I wasn’t evil in the traditional sense. Well, I guess that some of you might call a girl who wore... Read more

This week, I’m going to compile some responses I’ve gotten, both in the com-box and privately, to my post on men. Some of the responses are very thoughtful and many have pointed out errors in my thinking that I would like to share with you. But today, I’m still feeling pretty weary from all the controversy, so I have decided to write about a subject that is not controversial at all: abortion! No, seriously. That’s what I’m writing about, again.... Read more

I got all fired up this morning over something I read about over at Dr. Nadal’s fearless blog, and sat down to write about it, and then got sidetracked by a Platonic allusion I was trying to make, then started writing about freedom, and then I realized that I was really confused by my own writing so I saved it and walked away. I don’t usually walk away; usually I figure out some way to make what I’m trying to... Read more

These are going up much later than usual because I went to see Harry Potter with my dear sister-in-law. The whole thing was awesome, except the battle scene, which was a travesty on a scale I have never before witnessed. And since the battle scene was pretty much the crux of the entire friggin series, the suckage that spewed forth overshadowed all the good things that came before it.  I can’t ever watch another Harry Potter film again, so great... Read more

Mostly I’m writing this post to get  yesterday’s post off the front page of my blog. I’m a sissy, I guess, but I really don’t like controversy. I used to LOVE controversy…I even made the sweetest girl in my class cry during a high school debate once because I smelled blood and went for the kill. But when my life exploded in my face about six years ago, I got enough controversy and debate and difficult conversations to last a... Read more
