I Forgive You, Wayne Brady

I Forgive You, Wayne Brady August 23, 2012

Many of you know that comedian Wayne Brady made a tasteless joke about my brother at the Roseanne Barr roast several days ago.  Since then he’s written a very sincere apology, my Mom has accepted it, and I certainly do too.

If any of you guys have read my book or watched any news about me at all, you know that I’ve made mistakes.  Thankfully, I serve a God who forgives, and I’m grateful for his forgiveness every day.  Unfortunately, people don’t often forgive, and it is truly painful to sincerely say, “I’m sorry” and watch people still turn their backs on you.  I pray that I won’t be that kind of person, and I won’t be that kind of person to Wayne Brady.  So, we forgive you, Mr. Brady — completely and sincerely.

Now, I’m off to YouTube to watch the best of Whose Line is it Anyway (you were always great!)

Do you want to be a part of my DWTS journey? Then, e-mail me so I can add you to my mailing list.  (My address is BristolsBlog @ gmail.com, without the space! Make sure to use the subject line: DWTS.) I’d love to give you the latest up-to-the-minute reports about the show!

“Thankfully, I serve a God who forgives, and I’m grateful for his forgiveness every day.”
Classy, Bristol and right on the mark. Simple words and yet so hard to live upto. Thank you for speaking the words and living them as well.

  • aCe44

You are a class act, Miss Bristol. And I, too, love WLIIA!!! Just watched it last night!

  • Cindy

Bristol hit it out of the park with this post!

    1. Post an attack on me or my family to gain sympathy and show how we are victims
    2. Remind people that I have a book they can purchase for $$$
    3. Tone down my sarcastic tone to gain sympathy because hey I need people to vote for me on DWTS
    4. Mention I’m a Christian.

    Good job Bristol!

    • Pontius Pilate

My, Cindy, aren’t we the little cynical snarky pants.

      • Gilly

Speaking of snarkiness, I guess Bristol is still sitting at home waiting for the President to call her. Yeah the Palin’s aren’t snarky at all.

    • Linda-B

“Cindy” you didn’t really read what Bristol said – in the sense that you have no idea what she means.

    • Amber

If you don’t like Bristol why are you reading her blog? Just to spread your negativity? Senseless

    • Stacy

Ah no, it was simply BEING Christian! As in, the Christian thing to do… But, you wouldn’t know anything about that, obviously.

    • kahne

You are a bitch….exactly the kind of person that Bristol feels sorry for….me? I don’t feel sorry for losers like you who give womanhood a bad name…take your trolling ass somewhere else.

    • WorkEthic

And act like she’s all about forgiveness when the whole family’s history is to try and exact revenge for perceived wrongs? While you are changing your tune Bristol why don’t you once stand up for women’s healthcare freedom?

      • Bob

Women’s healthcare freedom, what a joke. Translation: I want you to support abortion and Govt. funded contraception by my say so. Period. And, perceived wrongs? Do you live in a bomb shelter? Have you ever heard what Bill the vile mouthed midget Maher has said about her mother? You on the left are really a bunch of sick pussy cats. To you, evil is good and good is evil.

      • Bree Merr

That was a gracious post Bristol. Why some here are jealous, bitter and manipulative and exposing themselves as such and bragging about it, is weird. Bristol you expose a blazing contrast between your graciousness and their blatant lack of graciousness.. Of course they don’t have a clue as to how silly they “sound”. Clueless and weird.

    • whitney

You’re a class a Bitch. Sorry for the language Bristol, but you know its true. That is all.

    • Thomas Hubbard

Cindy you have such little wisdom.

    • Bob

Cindy, you are a sad excuse for a “human being.”

  • Jenn

I agree with you Bristol. What he said wasn’t funny but I’m glad you and the family have forgiven. Ignore all the haters, they probably need to do some forgiving in their life and you’re a good example of what they should do. Many blessings to you and your whole family.

  • kahler9620

Cindy, I think someone needs a hug. Did someone poop in your oatmeal today? I for one do not see anything wrong with Bristol speaking from her heart and I’m positive that thousands have died to give her that freedom here in the good old USA. Lighten up Cindy and try to love someone you don’t know.

You hit it right on the nose Bristol. Christ has called us to forgive and Christ forgave us. By not forgiving, we only hurt ourselves and our witness. What a class act you are. Thank you.

  • Travis

Not in a weird way….. But I love you for who you are!

  • Brian McAndrew

At least he had the decency to apologize!

  • Ashley

Why are you even on here if you don’t like/support Bristol?? Your comment was completely unnecessary!! She has every right to be upset or offended when someone attacks her family! Especially someone as innocent as Trig!! Why does it matter that she referred to her book? Have you ever been published?? Do you know anything about Bristol or her family?!? They are devout Christians and it is a very big part of their life, so why isn’t she allowed to talk about her religion on HER blog???

You are a wonderful person and I think it speaks volumes to your (and your mom’s) character that you were able to forgive Wayne Brady for what he said about Trig!! I absolutely adore you & your family and wish nothing but the best for all of you!!! Wish there were more families like yours in this country!! God bless!!

  • WorkEthic

Why can’t you forgive the father of your child?

    • Carran

+Because forgiving a dead beat dad is an ongoing process. its never a one time issue with these kinds of dads. In the end she will do the right thing and hopefully he will too.

      • stormy

I forgave the dead beat father of my child almost daily, but by the next day I had to forgive him again. Finally, now that my daughter is 36 I can truly say that I have forgiven him for good. Bristol will probably have to do somewhat the same. Carran, you said it well. WorkEthic, have you been in the same shoes as Bristol? If not, you have no idea what it is like and your comment is just something negative to say about Bristol. And I forgive you for it.

  • Rosalina

Wow. Nice to see a genuine apology and a genuine acceptance for once. This is how humans need to treat one another.

  • kat

I read a line that I’m not sure the author was, but it is great for a situation such as this.
“Unforgiveness is to someone; a person who drinks poison and expects the other person to die”

  • cam0flage

Bristol you are a great person… Try to work things out with Levi for the interest of Tripp… Levi has been a scumbag but he is Tripp’s father and he needs both of you

  • larry

What I love about the Palins..The whole family has built in “class”.. Great family

  • Kathy

You did the right thing Bristol and anyone who has been in the position of having to forgive someone knows it is just as freeing to the forgiver as it is to the forgiven. And to ‘Cindy’ & ‘WorkEthic’ all I can say is you are projecting your own negative feelings onto Bristol – it says more about where your motives lie rather than hers.

  • Jamie

Very gracious of you, Bristol. Saddens me to see how even people of faith can forget the very grace that has been given to us by God is the same grace we are to show others. I love that you know this and practice it. Also saddens me to see the unwarranted hate spewed your way by some very sad and pathetic people. But Christians are told they will be persecuted for being Christians so I’m glad to see you don’t let that stop you from professing your faith and believes. God bless.

  • Ruth

    To Cindy,

“To err is human, to forgive divine.” It is a great guideline a for happy life.

    • Cindy

      To Ruth,

“Theres a sucker born every minute” Looks like the Palin’s are counting on it.

  • NanaJ

    Well said,Bristol.

  • CJ

    Love you, Bristol 🙂
    You are SPOT ON!

  • CrustyB

Very mature on the part of both Wayne and Bristol. Nice to see there are still a few grown-ups left in America. Roasts are gloves-off for the people in the room, not outside of it and certainly not in relation to a child, handicapped or otherwise.

As an aside, I wouldn’t trade one Trig for a thousand Roseanne Barrs. What a pig of a human being.

    • JoFro

As an aside, I wouldn’t trade one Trig for a thousand Roseanne Barrs. What a pig of a human being.

That statement is too dang-diddly true!!

  • Amy

    You inspire us all.

  • Steph

While I have forgiven some of the people who have hurt me and turned their backs on me even after I’ve apologized for something I’ve done, there are some out there that I want nothing to do with ever again. It has nothing to do with holding a grudge or anything like that; it’s just that they have proven themselves to be so toxic that distancing myself from them is the only thing I can do for my own well-being.

  • Paulette

Awesome…what an example both of you are giving to others!

  • Ruth

    To Cindy,

Life is too short to be bitter of other people’s success. “The truth shall set you free.”

    • Cindy

      I Forgive You, Ruth

  • Richard Head

Hmmm the moderators are on the spot today!

  • judy

    Omg I love u Bristol!

  • bellagrazi

You and your mom are both extremely gracious people, Bristol. God bless you both.

  • BBower

When I think of the Palin, especially Sarah, the word gracious does not come to mind.

  • Marie

Very big of both of you. His apology, your acceptance and forgiveness.

  • Kelly

The apology seemed heartfelt and I’m glad he issued it but it almost KILLED me to have to read anything in the Huffington Post – what a joke! You are gracious (as is your mother) and forgiveness, most certainly, sets you free!

  • Cindy

Sarah Palin says give Mitt Romney a chance.

    • BBower

Sarah Palin is not wanted at the RNC and now Fox has cancelled her appearances tonight. Oh, and another candidate she stumped for lost today. The writing is in the wall.

      • Gilly

Finally! Good riddance to all of them. Hopefully in a few years we will struggle to remember any of their names.

  • Peaslepuff

Bristol, you are the worst. You are a sanctimonious hypocritical bitch and every sentence on your blog makes me hemorrhage.

    • Tonya

      Dear Peaslepuff,
Clearly you care or you wouldnt take the time to search out her blog, read, and comment on it. Get a life and take your views elsewhere. They are not wanted nor needed here. I suggest getting a life? You are so pathetic.

    • shut up!!!

  • Jeremy Prestholdt

Bristol- stay strong! Don’t hate the haters, hate the hate! LOVE to LOVE YOU!!! Jeremy Prestholdt

  • Wow. I am in no way a Bristol Palin, etc., fan, but when a person offers FORGIVENESS, and in the respectful way she did in this post, that is an accomplishment of personal growth. Wayne Brady offered his apology because he is a big enough person to realize that his behavior and actions were hurtful and tasteless. The comments here reflect the same type of hypocrisy and sanctimony that they are accusing Miss Palin of. And what can we bet that these “people” are the first to insist on what good [insert religion here] they are.
