Police Catch a Shoplifter, but Ask the Store Not to Press Charges. Why? December 25, 2014

Three police officers in New Mexico caught a 23-year-old man shoplifting from a local store, but when they saw what he was stealing, they asked the owner not to press charges.

Why?

He was a young father, who’d recently lost his job, just trying to feed his baby. The officers had compassion on him and even paid for the formula he was trying to steal.

This story shows the good heart that motivates most officers who protect us every day. It’s nice to see good cops getting some much-needed publicity!

One of the officers said helping people is the whole reason he signed up. “I know it sounds corny, but I want to help people as much as I possibly can, especially in my own community.”
