Top 7 Bible Verses To Help With Confidence August 14, 2015

As the title suggests, this article is about confidence. However, many people will read that and automatically assume it is about helping people who have little or no confidence; yet is can also be about over-confidence. Because, let’s face it—everyone struggles with one of the two. There are those who rarely feel bold or strong enough to do anything, while there are others who are a bit too confident and make them come off arrogant, self-righteous, and many times even lead to them failing at whatever it is they set out to do. If you pay close enough attention, this is even the plot or sub-plot to many movies and television shows. So, it’s something everyone should learn about—for both sides of it! Here are the top 7 Bible verses to help with confidence.

“So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:6 ESV

At the end of the day, Christians can have confidence that God is in control and is a protector—the best one they can have!

“Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.” Psalm 27:3 ESV

David had many enemies throughout his life and military career; he understood what it was like to have people trying to kill him every day. Yet, he had placed his trust in the Lord and thus knew he would be taken care of. The more we know God, the more we will have confidence in God.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 ESV

With Jesus, we can draw near to God with boldness. Because of Jesus, we have been accepted by God.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 ESV

Trusting and having confidence in God always yields great results. It’s much better than relying on ourselves all the time.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Why put this verse in? Well, if you truly believe this verse than that should give you great confidence!

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7 ESV

Modern people may not trust in chariots and horses anymore, but they do trust in their wallets and their skill sets. When we place our confidence in material possessions or our own abilities, things usually don’t go so well. However, the Scriptures encourage us to trust in God above all else.

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man listens to advice.” Proverbs 12:15 ESV

Bible verses About Confidence

If you’ve ever been around a self-confident person (or even yourself!), you get this verse completely. They (or you) never really listen to anyone else; it doesn’t matter what the subject is, but they always feel they know best no matter what. They may have no previous knowledge or experience in whatever is being talked about and discussed, yet they will still chime in and try to convince people that they are right. It’s annoying, to say the least. Here the Bible says that that kind of man is a fool! A wise man is one who listens and heeds advice.
