Two-time “Christopher Closeup” guest and “American Idol” alum Brooke White posted a new song online recently called “Something Divine.” She actually wrote the music and lyrics many years ago in response to a good friend who was experiencing a hard time in her life and enduring a crisis of faith. Now that Brooke and her husband Dave are the parents of a young daughter, the song’s message has acquired another layer of meaning – a layer that reminds children that they’re loved by God and special in His eyes.
Brooke recently recorded the song and an accompanying video. It’s worth a look and listen so I’m pasting it here below, along with the lyrics. (And for more on Brooke White’s work, check out her PledgeMusic fundraising page which is raising money for her “Lullabies and Happy Songs Charity Album” to benefit “Operation Underground Railroad,” which rescues children from human sex trafficking.)
Every star is different,
And so is every child.
Some are bright and happy,
While some are meek and mild.
Every one is needed
For just what they can do.
You’re the only person
Who ever can be you.
It’s so easy to doubt what you can’t figure out.
Trying hard in your mind to find out what this life’s all about.
‘Cause if you jump, will the net appear?
Falling down is your greatest fear.
Stand with your face towards the sun,
And don’t give up until your work is done.
And in time you’ll find
Something divine.
So get down on your knees
And beg and plead for the light.
When you close your eyes and look to Him
For your sight.
‘Cause you can’t live another day
Not knowing who you are.
The answer’s not far away.
So don’t forget where you came from,
And don’t forget what you can become.
‘Cause there’s something inside,
Something divine.
