
4. REINVEST your influence much more than you “cash it out.”
When you reinvest your financial returns, your net worth grows, but when you spend all the profits, your net worth shrinks. In a similar way, look at your total influence with a person like a “bank account” of sorts. When you use your influence to challenge them to do something that will help themselves, your influence will grow. When you use your influence to gain favors that only help you, those are deductions from the influence bank account and ultimately leave you with less influence.
