2. Make decisions based on longterm goals; not short-term pleasure.
Happy people aren’t perfect (nobody is), but they’re intentional in their decision making. They don’t numb their frustrations with short-term fixes that cause longterm problems (like substance abuse, over-eating, porn, over-spending, or countless other examples of momentary pleasure that cause more harm than good). They’ve learned the positive impacts of having the discipline to delay gratification. They make decisions not always based on what feels good in the moment, but on what decision will their future selves wish they would have made. The compounded effect of those disciplined decisions creates peace, prosperity, and usually… more happiness.
