The most important gift you can give your children is to help them know with confidence that they are loved! The most important lesson you can teach your kids is to help them discover what “love” really means. I wrote this little children’s poem as a bedtime story you can read to your kids to let them know how much you love them. I hope this makes a positive impact in your family!
“When I Tell You that I Love You” By: Dave Willis (Dedicated to Cooper, Connor, Chandler and Chatham.)
When I tell you that I love you
While those words are very true
Those words leave something missing.
No, those words alone won’t do.
When I tell you that I love you
What I’m really trying to say
Is that words alone can’t really tell
All I’m trying to convey.
But since words are still important
I will try and do my best
To tell you that I love you
And my hugs will do the rest.
So when you ask me to explain
All the love I have for you
Here are some simple promises
And every one is very true!
I love you more than peanut butter loves jelly.
I love you more than pigs love being smelly.
I love you more than mice love cheese.
I love you more than kites love breeze.
I love you more than dogs love barking.
I love you more than cars love parking.
I love you more than birds love flying.
I love you more than towels love drying.
I love you more than kittens love yarn.
I love you more than farmers love barns.
I love you more than turtles love shells.
I love you more than steeples love bells.
I love you more than fish love swimming.
I love you more than rocks love skimming.
I love you more than boots love mud.
I love you more than cows love cud.
I love you more than racecars love speed.
I love you more than that indeed!
I love you more than princesses love crowns.
I love you more than red noses love clowns.
I love you more than horses love hay.
I love you more than I can say!.
So with all you think about my love
Take all your brain can store
Then add an extra trillion
And I’ll still love you even more!
I hope this helps you start to see
And I hope you know it’s true
That it’s the truest truth I’ll ever say
When I say that I LOVE YOU!
