A message for the brokenhearted

A message for the brokenhearted June 26, 2014

Maybe you’re reading this with a broken heart. You have had relationships or dreams that have crumbled and you’re trying to make sense of it all. You’re wresting with a mixture of pain, grief, regret, confusion, frustration, and maybe even bitterness.

I don’t know your situation, but I believe you’re not reading this by accident.

I believe in a God who works all things together for good and I believe His love has the power to bring healing to anything we could ever face. He cares about you. He is present in your moments of heartache. Here’s a quick story to illustrate what I mean:

A woman who had fifteen children was once asked by an interviewer, “With so many kids, how do you love them all the same?”

She smiled and gave an answer that he wasn’t expecting, “I don’t love them all the same.”

Taken aback, the interviewer awkwardly asked, “Well…which one do you love the most?”

She gave a thoughtful smile and answered softly, “The one who is hurting the most, the one who feels the most loneliness, the one who is brokenhearted…that’s the one I love the most.”

God has a lot more kids than just fifteen, and I don’t believe that He plays favorites, but the Bible does teach that God has a special place in His heart for those who are hurting. He’s with us always, but in our moments of deepest despair, I believe His presence is strongest.

“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

If you are in a place right now where you feel like you’re all alone in your search for real love, I want to reassure you that you are not alone. God is with you. Jesus has said, “Never will I leave you or forsake you.

Maybe nobody has ever told you this before, or perhaps you’ve forgotten this profound truth somewhere along the way, but God loves you more than you can imagine. He will be your strength until the pain passes and He will bring good out of it somehow. Trust Him and know that you are loved with an eternal love.

I am going through a difficult time in my life right now. I have been betrayed by people who I love the most. I just finished praying and asking God why have I been put in the situation I am in. I asked God in my prayer to give me strength to make it through these struggles. I opened Facebook after praying and this article is the first thing I saw. I believe this is God speaking to me!

My husban and I hav e been together for 7 yrs. He got deported 3 yrs ago and we have managed to stay faithfulto one another. We had agreed that I move down there at the end of aug oblonly if he got a job hes never been a worker so I have always been the main provider of us and my son. He still hasnt gotten a job and he is 11 yrs older then me. I feel like he just uses me to get things he needs. What do I do?? Do I move away and leave my career and hope he takes c as re of me or do I stay?? He has never helped me out in the past so im very scared to trust him..

My husband has EMA and I keep praying for him for more than a year. I hope that he can return to God and God can save me from the deepest pain. Now, he asks to divorce me. I am so brokenhearted and I think my life comes to the end. I don’t know what God wants to do on us and how to face my future life. Has God listened to my prayer?

  • Hurting bad.

    Thank you

My husband of 16 years broke my heart 3 1/2 weeks ago when I found out he has/had been having an Emotional affair for 5 years. We have two kids. The affair continued even after we “re-committed” to each other at a marriage encounter weekend. I’m truly broken hearted, betrayed and feel as if my soul has been ripped from being. I give him and our situation daily, hourly and sometimes by the minute to God. He’s the only one that can fix this. So, thank you for your post and God’s promises in the scripture.

Ashley, Please dont do it. He is the head of the household as your husband. He should do everything he can to come to you and provide for you. He needs to step into his role as protector over you.

  • Thank you.

I have been feeling heartbroken & my conscience is eating away at me over something I done wrong years ago.I am terrified of the consequences now. I have shared this with Our loving Lord & asked Him for forgiveness & mercy upon me. I didn’t go to church today or take communion because I was beside myself with worry & so upset! My pastor says if there are things “outstanding” we shouldn’t take communion until we have dealt with it. By bringing it to The Lord, have I dealt with it & can I continue to take communion now? I am so glad I found your page & I feel The Lord has led me to you. Thank you so much. Please can you advise me. I want & need to take communion, but don’t know if I am allowed?
